Bois de Vincennes

  Monday May 16th
Today we spent our afternoon in the Bois de Vincennes, which is a large park on the outskirts of Paris. It’s not as large as the Bois de Boulogne we went to over the weekend, but it is still a very big park with a lot of nice hiking trails.  Just as in Boise de Boulogne there is a kids section and we wanted to check out the mini golf which has holes lined with Paris monuments. It turned out that the mini-golf was closed, but it didn’t look like we expected, so we didn’t mind too much. The replicas of the monuments were all in white, not colored, and were only as tall as my knee.  We were picturing, monuments like 4 or 5 feet tall like in mini-golf at the Jersey shore.  These were very insignificant in comparison and not impressive.  So we ended up just going for a hike, which was a really nice way to spend the afternoon.  Both Katie and I love hiking and being the woods.  Being in the woods is probably my favorite place, and Katie’s second favorite after being underwater.  So we just walked and talked and enjoyed being together in the cool shady woods with the soft leaves underneath our feet. A perfect day.
